Sunburst Botanics is a hypothetical medicinal cannabis company focused on sustainability and ethical harvesting. In this self-initiated case-study we’ve created a brand that is both compelling for patients and compliant with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) guidelines.

Given that medicinal cannabis cannot be directly advertised to the public in Australia, the Sunburst Botanics brand identity needed to be built around core values rather than product attributes. We placed significant emphasis on these values throughout the design process:

  • “Brighter Futures” A commitment to sustainable farming practices that nurture the environment.

  • “Always Ethical” Ethical cultivation standards that prioritize the well-being of the plants, workers, and patients.

  • “Pure Quality” Striving for the highest quality products with a focus on purity, all without making any specific medical claims.

  • “Authentic Roots” Respect for the authentic roots of cannabis farming, with a blend of traditional and modern cultivation techniques.

  • “Natural Wellness” A mission to enhance patients’ well-being through natural, safe, and effective products, without violating the TGA’s restrictions on medical claims.

These values were reflected in all brand assets — from the logo to the website — and informed the tone of the overall brand voice. Sunburst Botanics stands for transparency, ethical practice, and natural wellness, which are concepts we could promote without triggering regulatory issues.
